The Math Behind It
Vacation = (Salary ÷ 30 × Days) + 1/3 Constitutional Bonus + Cash ConversionVacation pay is calculated based on the salary divided by 30, multiplied by the vacation days owed. On top of this, the constitutional 1/3 bonus is applied. Cash conversion allows converting up to 1/3 of vacation days to money (max 10 days). The proportional 13th salary is the salary divided by 12, multiplied by months worked.
Example
With a R$ 3,500 salary and full 30-day vacation without selling days, you receive R$ 3,500 vacation + R$ 1,166.67 (1/3 bonus) = R$ 4,666.67. Plus proportional 13th for 12 months: R$ 3,500. Total: R$ 8,166.67.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is the right to sell up to 1/3 of your vacation (max 10 of 30 days). You receive the value of those days plus the 1/3 constitutional bonus on them in cash, but work during those days instead of resting.
